Work at the Wastewater Treatment Facility:
All major equipment included in the original scope of this project has now been installed, started up, and placed in operation. This includes the four (4) secondary clarifiers, the RAS pumps, the secondary scum pumps, the Process Return Pump Station, the new sodium hypochlorite pumps, and the new sodium bisulfite pumps.
Improvements to the Chlorine Contact Tanks are complete.
All other building and site improvements associated with the original scope of the project are also largely complete. Final paving is scheduled for tomorrow. Only punchlist items remain.
The installation of new equipment in the Preliminary Treatment Building, which was added to the project by Change Order #2, is ongoing. This work includes replacement of the existing influent bar screens, grit collectors, and grit dewatering screw, and addition of a screenings wash press, as well as building improvements associated with this work. It is anticipated that installation of this equipment will be completed in October.
Work at the Pump Stations:
New pumps and equipment at the following pump stations have been installed, started up, and are in operation: Monson, Marshall, Lake, and Ilford. Only punchlist work remains at these stations.
Richardson Street Pump Station: The gravity approach sewer to the Richardson Street Pump Station is currently being replaced. Waterline should complete the gravity sewer replacement in the next couple weeks, and will then proceed on to mechanical work inside the station. I anticipate that the work at the Richardson Street Pump Station will be mostly complete by October 1st.
Nashua Road Pump Station: Other than preliminary work such as replacement of the membrane roof, work at the Nashua Road Pump Station has not yet begun. Work at this station was moved to the end of the project due to the ongoing issue with National Grid regarding the easement for the new electrical service. National Grid recently sent an easement approval form to the Town for the Selectmen’s signatures. Once this easement is in place, National Grid will schedule installation of the new electrical service, and work at the station will proceed once the work at Richardson Street is complete. W&C has been working with Waterline on a contingency plan to keep the work at Nashua Road on schedule in lieu of the new electrical service, in the event that the easement issue is not resolved in a timely manner. Work at Nashua Road should begin in early October.
