BILLERICA/CHELMSFORD – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that there will be temporary daytime lane closures on Route 3A in Billerica and Chelmsford. The closures are scheduled to begin on Monday, March 30, and will continue through the summer, and will occur during daytime hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The temporary closures are necessary to allow crews to safely and effectively conduct construction operations including pavement milling and resurfacing.
Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times throughout these operations. Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect some delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
This work is part of a $2.1 million-dollar resurfacing project to be completed in the Summer 2020.
The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
