The Billerica Recreation Department meets summer childcare needs for many families with its Superstars program, an exciting seven-week program based at the Vining Elementary School. Superstars, as well as all other Billerica Recreation programs are open to both Billerica residents and non-residents.
Superstars is designed for children ages 6- 14 with group sizes that are limited to 12 children with at least two counselors per group. As many of the counselors and junior counselors are involved in the education and special education professions, Superstars is able to meet the social needs of some children with special education plans.
The regular program hours are 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM. The seven week-long sessions will begin on June 26th and end on August 10th. Families can chose to come for one week or all seven weeks. An Early Bird Registration Fee for Superstars is now available for $185 for the short weeks of June 26 and July 2 and $205 for weeks 3-7 (July 9-Aug 10). After April 21 the regular fees will be $195 and $215 respectfully. Extended hours will be available for mornings and afternoons (except for the last day of the program) to provide supervision of children from 7:00-8:30 AM and 4:00-5:30 PM. Cost for this service is $25/week for morning care for those weeks with 5 days and $20 for the two shortened weeks. Afternoon extended care will be $25/week for those weeks with 5 days and $20 for the three weeks with only 4 afternoons (weeks 1,2 and 7).
Each day brings new fun and long lasting memories for participants. While at the Vining School, Superstars participants play board games, create arts and crafts projects, and compete in many different sports and enjoy outdoor games. Every week the program has interesting field trips scheduled to visit places of interest around the state. This year’s field trips include George’s Island, the Southwick Zoo, Blue Hills Reservation, Endicott Park, Sturbridge Village and the Breezy Picnic Grounds and Water Slide.
