The Billerica Recreation Department and Recreation Commission are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the PARC grant from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs for $400,000 towards $800,000 of improvements at the Peggy Hannon-Rizza Recreation Complex ! Many of you might recall that a warrant article was submitted for this project in the fall of 2014. Though the article's wording will need some modification at the next Town Meeting to finalize the grant process, we are happy to learn that our goals for the PHR complex will come closer to fruition!
Included in the plans are: increasing the accessibility and utilization of the complex, a walking trail around its perimeter with at least one wheelchair accessible fishing pier and kiosks to share environmental information about the conservation areas, lighting for the tennis courts, and a Pavilion with accessible picnic tables.
As 2017 progresses and a formal design has been accepted for the project, we will have a clearer understanding of the timeline for the construction. Please check our web page or Facebook Page for updates. Please call Billerica Recreation 978-671-0921 additional information.
